Marco Island Family Photographer – Choosing Someone for Your Family

Marco Island Photo Session – Choosing Your Photographer

It’s that time of year when posts are popping up all over social media asking about photographers. Truthfully, they are a dime a dozen, and if you aren’t from here it can be tricky navigating the waters or who’s who. I get it, I spend so much time carefully selecting for my own family when it comes time to book someone. So, how do you know who is actually good and who is just good at winning a popularity contest? Do you book based on price, or do you want to know what you are actually getting is what you dream of when you think about family photos on the beach?

These are important questions to ask yourself. For me, the work always tells the truth about someones abilities to connect with their clients and deliver a high quality gallery of images. The thing about our industry that drives me crazy after over 10 years of being a working photographer is that it isn’t regulated, so yes, anyone can say they have a camera, charge and are a “photographer” and then get their friends to go to bat and recommend them to everyone they know. There is so much more that goes into it. Years of study, hard work, hours of learning, editing, mastering a craft. Business skills, people skills, a creative eye and the desire to go above and beyond are the hallmark of any successful photography business. Choose wisely. Moments are fleeting.

First birthday celebration for sweet baby James on Marco Island recently highlights one of the many reasons I love this place and working with families so much. We drove from Naples, (not too far away), and were able to spend an hour on this pristine piece of paradise. These gorgeous memories will be treasured, my sweet clients will look at them every day, and these beautiful children will know they are loved so much when they walk in the door and see this night hanging on the wall. That is the greatest joy, memories that come to life after the night is over. I would love to bring the same to your family on your next trip to Marco.
